Design Trend Predictions

At Indigo we are continually evaluating the design landscape for upcoming trends. We LOVE every opportunity we get to explore these trends with our clients. Finding that perfect look for the space, while feeling fresh and intentional, is ultimately what we are after. Here are some design trends that we noticed at HPMKT (High Point Market) this Spring that we think we'll be seeing lots of later this year and into 2023.

THE SEVENTIES

It was a time of love, freedom, and relaxation. After the last couple years of feeling locked down (in more ways than one), we are seeing an explosion of 1970s style roaring back onto the scene. Groovy.

BLACK+GOLD

Rich gold and black tones are ripe for a comeback and we're already seeing these on the market. These striking, bold, and ultimately classic color choices are reinventing the landscape.

SPICE TONES

As we are seeing cool grays phase out, spice tones are already being put to use to help warm up the stark whites that we have been seeing for the last couple of years. We predict we’ll continue to see spice tones show up in a BIG way. The perfect accents to strong primary color choices, spice tones like cinnamon, saffron, cilantro, and paprika add a layer of nuance to a freshly designed space.

GEOMETRY+LINES

Say goodbye to cookie cutter rectangles and HELLO to aggressive line art and unique geometry. Blending the magic of mathematically derived shapes and contemporary line art, we feel that the explosion in use of geometry is only just beginning.

NATURAL ELEMENTS

Natural elements such as butterflies, branches, leaf-coating, and botanicals, as well as hand-made items like clays and textural plaster and sculpture are going to show up in a big way. Together with geometry, these elements instantly lend a level of warmth and purpose to the space. These nostalgic designs will truly make the space stand out above the rest.

SCALE

Sometimes bigger is better, and in 2022 things are looking HUGE. We are talking oversized and larger than life. In an increasingly digital world, we are seeing a spike in interest when it comes to oversized physical objects as accent pieces in the home. This can be a relatively inexpensive way to make a statement and start a conversation. We love that more and more households are including these strong choices in their designs.

Over the coming months we'll continue to update you on where design trends are heading. Our goal when it comes to design trends is to always keep our work fresh and intentional, but also timeless and personal for our clients.

XOX, Heidi
